Edward Whitacre, 75, died on Sunday, November 9, 2008 (6:10 AM) at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mr. Whitacre was born on September 26, 1933, in Huntington County to Floyd (Jim) and Ann Helvie Whitacre. His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Whitacre was a 1951 graduate of Lancaster High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Sandra Cole on August 6, 1960, in the First United Church of Christ, Huntington, Indiana. She survives and resides in Huntington.
Mr. Whitacre was the owner of Ed’s Body Shop and a former laborer at Harvester, Locke Steel, Teco and a cook at Huggy Bear. Mr. Whitacre coached in the Huntington County Baseball League for many years. He also coached girls’ softball and basketball in the Kim League.
Survivors include Two Sons: Scott (Roberta) Whitacre and Todd Whitacre both of Huntington, Indiana and One daughter, April Whitacre, Huntington, Indiana. Five grandchildren. Two brothers: Ronald Whitacre and Bill Whitacre both of Huntington, Indiana.
