Edward Mayland, 72, of Algona, died on Friday December 4, 2015 at his home. Edward James Mayland, the son of Henry and Clara (Giesking) Mayland, was born on March 1, 1943 near Titonka, Iowa. He graduated from Titonka High School in 1960. Edward was united in marriage to Carol Loar on May 4, 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Titonka. He farmed for 6 years. In the early 70’s Ed became general manager for farmers Co-Op Elevators. He retired after 48 years of service. Ed was active in church and the communities. He had a special love for hunting, especially with his sons and good friends. His greatest accomplishment was being a great father, grandfather and husband of 52 years. Left to cherish Ed’s memory is his wife, Carol; two sons, Troy Mayland and his wife Jean of Storm Lake and Allan Mayland of Graettinger; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his mother, Clara of Titonka; three brothers, Richard (Linda) Mayland of Palm Coast, FL, Jim (Bonnie) Mayland of Titonka and Henry (Deb) Mayland of Orange City; a sister, Verlene (Wayne) Benck of Maiden Rock, WI; and two sister-in-law’s, Karen Mayland of Garner and Jean Mayland of Bloomington, MN. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Marlin and Bill Mayland.
