Edward Merritt Kenney of Wallingford, CT, and previously of Morningside, Milford, CT passed away at age 79 on November 26, 2008, after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born on October 13, 1929 in New Haven to the late Edward and Viola Kenney. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He married Arlene Thomas on September 13, 1952. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1951 from the University of Connecticut where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, and went on to earn a Master in Public Health Administration from Yale University School of Public Health, Hospital Administration. He was the Assistant Administrator at Stamford Hospital from 1963-1965; the Assistant Administrator at Manchester Memorial Hospital from 1965-1967; Executive Director of Manchester Memorial Hospital from 1967-1983; and President and CEO of the Greenwich Hospital Association from 1984-1991. He served for more then two decades in the U.S.

 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arlene, daughter Leslie Shea and her husband Stephen, son Edward (Ned), Ned’s girlfriend Anna, grandchildren Jennifer and Micah Shea, and nieces and nephews Bob, Carole, and Linda Dolan and Kerry and Kenney Johnson. He was predeceased by two sisters Edwina Dolan and Carol Johnson.
