Biography

Edward “George” Kraynak JR
George was born in Fort Lauderdale FL on June 2,1943, to parents Edward George Kraynak Sr. and Ola Rodes Kyle Kraynak. A true native Floridian, he resided in Florida his entire life.
After graduating high school, he served for three years in the United States Army. He then devoted the next 35 years as a police officer in Broward County, retiring in 2005 from the Davie Police Department.
A loving father, he had seven children, 5 with his first wife Gail Heney, and 2 with his second wife Jo-Lyn Campbell. In 2004 he married the love of his life Celia Saffron Hochtman. True soul mates, they shared a remarkable love for each other until her passing in August of 2012.
He is dearly missed by his children, Patty (David) Reich, Eddie (Kim) Kraynak (first wife, Tonya), Liz (Mike) Rogers, Suzanne (Larry) Rossignol, Laura Beth (Mike) Gaskins, Christina Kraynak, and Nikki Kraynak. He was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his beloved younger brother, William “Bill” (Diana) Kraynak, nephews Greg and Mark and their families.
He was well known for his animated sense of humor and quick wit. Friends and family can recount many stories of his pranks and silly antics. He loved history, animals, the beach, and long naps. He could often be found feeding birds and squirrels, fishing off the pier with his children, frequenting unique restaurants, or at the movies with his feet up on the rails. Typical of most police officers, he loved coffee, but unlike them he did not prefer donuts (except when he would take a bite out of each donut in a box then leave them for everyone else to find). He loved Disney World and would often take week long vacations there with his children. He loved listening to people, and showed extraordinary kindness to all. His great hugs and captivating stories will be greatly missed and cherished forever.
George passed away peacefully at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 surrounded by his family.
