Edward Joseph Madden, Colonel USAF (Ret.), 61, passed peacefully after a hard fought
battle with cancer on September 21, 2014. Ed was born on March 22, 1953 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Anna Ruth and Joseph B. Madden, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.). Growing up in a military family, he landed at Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach. He attended Florida State University, where he met and married the love of his life and best friend, Julie E. Hammack.

years, and raised a beautiful family of three children: Christopher, Jeffrey and Allison. They
returned to Tallahassee to coach the next generation of Air Force officers as the ROTC
instructor at Florida State, and spend time with their beloved grandsons.
Ed is survived by his children; his grandchildren, Sebastian, Austin, and Oliver; his mother, Anna
Ruth; and his siblings: Patrick, Mary Jo, Joe, Bill, Susie, Teresa, and Sharon.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Julie; his father, and his sister,
