Edward John Huzyak, 69, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021. Ed was born on November 24, 1951 in Rochester, Pa to Edward and Ameila Huzyak. He was the middle child of three children and graduated from Beaver High School in 1969. After high school he attended Penn State University and Robert Morris University, where he graduated with honors in 1974. After Ed’s college graduation, he served as an active duty U.S. Marine Corps Officer from 1975 to 1978 followed by service in the USMC Reserves until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1998. As a car lover, Ed pursued an automotive career with General Motors in 1978, leaving for BMW of North America in 1987. Ed worked in various executive positions and retired as BMW’s Head of Western Region Aftersales after 30 years with the company. Ed married the love of his life, Peg (Zitzman) Huzyak in 1980. They were blessed with two sons, Michael, in 1983, and Christopher, in 1987. Ed was a hands-on dad who cherished his time with them throughout his life. The boys will remember their dad as a gentle soul who loved them unconditionally. Ed and Peg retired to Phoenix, AZ in 2017. Ed was diagnosed with end stage renal failure and dialysis cut short their dreams of traveling, but they loved swimming in their pool or enjoying their day trips to Sedona and Flagstaff. Ed was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Anthem, Arizona. Ed is survived by his wife Peg; his son Michael and fiancé (Jessica Rickershauser), Jersey City, NJ, and son Christopher and fiancé (Rachel Hugo), Scottsdale, AZ; a sister Patricia Lansberry, Beaver Falls, Pa.; a brother Rick, Rochester, Pa.; a brother-in-law John (Judy) Zitzman; a sister-in-law Patti Schidemantle; nieces and nephews Wendy (Bill) Brenneisen, John Zitzman Jr., Jada Zitzman, J.J. Schidemantle, Becca Chalupiak, Jennifer Greenly, Jeb Huzyak, and several great nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ameila Huzyak; in laws John Zitzman and Mildred Kugel; brother-in-laws Fred Schidemantle and Barry Lansberry; nephew Mark Greenly; and niece Addie Huzyak. Ed was a quiet man unless you wanted to talk about classic cars, stocks, or his family. He was always interested in others aspiring dreams and provided endless encouragement and mentorship to many over the years.
