Edward James Davis, 84 of North East, MD, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in Elkton, MD.

Born in Baltimore, MD, on July 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward James Davis Wickersham and Esther Clark Herman. Mr. Davis was the beloved husband of Vivian Pollari Tuuri for 40 years until her passing. He was then the beloved husband of Liisa Heverin Tuominen for 15 years until her passing. He served in the army for 21 years and was in the Pacific theater during WW2.

Mr. Davis was an alumni of the University of Delaware. He taught biology in the Christina School District for 32 years and the Tome School for 3 years. His hobbies included playing sports, gardening, and reading. He was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran and St Mary Anne’s Episcopal churches. He was a deeply spiritual man who cared about others.

Mr. Davis is survived by six children: Edward J. Davis III, Alissa N. Eggert, Tina M. Trimble, Robin E. Davis, Earnest N. Davis, Almerle M. Davis and two sisters: Dorothy Phipps and Margaret M. Torres. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 stepchildren: Jim Heverin, Kathleene Hirsch, Kristine Bowman, David Heverin and Kenny Heverin, six step grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren and loving fiancee Dorothy Hyrb.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivie E. Dunn and his siblings: Edith M. Turner, Jeanette Grubb, Florence B. Colmery, Robert L. Davis and William Davis.
