South Bend – Edward J. Lind, 67, of South Bend, passed away on Friday August 8, 2014, in his home. He was born on January 30, 1947 in South Bend to the late Albert and Esther (Wroble) Lind and was a lifelong area resident. Ed is survived by his brothers, Paul (Alyce) Lind of Mishawaka, IN and Al (Kathy) Lind of Anderson, IN; a sister-in-law, Julie (Gary) King of Niles, MI; six nephews, Jeremy, Jason, Eric, Adam, Justin and AJ, and one niece, Allison. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norm Lind. Ed retired in January 2010 from B.O.C. Gases, where he worked for 25 years as a truck driver. Ed was a 1966 graduate of Central High School. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran serving from 1966-1969 He was a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357 and a lifelong parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD classes for 20 years. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and loved his lawn mower and snowblower, he was always helping neighbors. He loved to volunteer, especially at Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, where he received the Kimble Volunteer of the year. 3545 N. 3545 N.
