Edward E. McConnell, 91, of Ottawa, died on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Ottawa Pavilion.

Ed was born on March 1, 1925 in Bloomington, to William and Nora May (Johnson) McConnell. He was a graduate of the Northrop Aeronautical Institute. Ed was an engineer and an aviation mechanic, and he owned and operated Mac-Aero on Boondox Field, in Seneca. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII where he was an aircraft mechanic in the Asiatic and the Pacific Theater. Ed married Ethel Frederiksen on December 16, 1950 in Normal, IL. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Normal and more recently Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa. He was also a member of the Experimental Aviation Association, the National Aeronca Association, and was a private pilot.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, 3 nieces, Janet Trotter, of Bloomington, Letha Bryan of Heyworth, IL, and Nancy Pedigo, of Decatur,3 nephews, Warren McConnell, of Delavan, IL, Raymond Dowell, of Mattoon, IL, and Byron Dowell, of Levelland,Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, May Dowell, and Mary Evans, 3 brothers, George, Harry, and Fred McConnell, and a niece, Linda Dowell.
