Edward D. Bastian, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 2, 2007 at home in Holmdel, New Jersey. He was the husband of Lois (Brunner) Bastian for 41 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Charles and Norma Bastian.

Edward was a Navy veteran, having served during World War II.

Edward was an active Water Utility professional in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and retired as the Chief Engineer and VP for Middlesex Water Company in 1982. Previously he had worked as Deputy Water Commissioner for the City of Philadelphia, and with the consultant engineering firm of Buck Seifert and Jost, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. During that time Ed provided strong leadership as the “Chief” for the water utility, overseeing numerous engineering and water supply projects for the fast growing region in central NJ. He was also active in many professional organizations including the American Water Works Association where he was a life member and recognized with the prestigious Fuller Award in 1984.

Edward had many interests including sailing, flying, photography, but most of all, he enormously enjoyed traveling with his partner, Lois, to many corners of the World.

Survivors: he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by wife Lois at home; and his stepson Mark Fischer of Irvine California.
