Edward A. Stanek
April 4, 1916 – November 30, 2006

Having fought a long battle with renal failure, Ed passed away on November 30, 2006, in New Port Richey Florida, leaving his wife of 22 years, Lillian (Van Durmen) Stanek. Along with a son, Dr. Michael Stanek of Dublin, Ohio; two daughters , Diane Nashban of California and Patricia Richard of Mishawaka, Indiana. Two sons, Lyndon and Kenneth Stanek, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Ed also had five stepchildren, that he treated as his own; (the late Michael Van Durmen), Geoffrey Van Durmen and Karen Van Durmen of Mishawaka, Indiana, Steve Van Durmen of South Bend and Susan Van Durmen of Granger, Indiana. Ed had many many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born in Cicero, Illinois and moving to South Bend he worked as a Tool and Die maker at the former Bendix Corporation. He also was Vice President of the UAW Local 9. After 42 years he retired in 1986. Ed was on the Hotel-Motel Board of the Century Center and the Mental Health Board as well. He was also a long time member of St. Jude Catholic Church in South Bend.

Throughout his busy life he never lost his sense of humor. He was tough, but always fair. We will miss him greatly. May he rest in peace, no one deserves it more.
