Eduardo “Ed” Algarin, 52, of South Windham, CT passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 of a heart attack at the gym. He left doing what he loved to do. He was born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to Agripina Vega and Benito Algarin.

When he was younger he moved to Connecticut with his mother and sister, Agripina and Mili. He worked hard growing up. In high school, he had dreams of being a basketball player and took great pride in the fact that even though his height was against him he could best people on the court. His pride traveled through every aspect of his life, during these times he boasted about how he would try to look cool in his “clown car” that was all different colors. Ed married, at a young age, a woman with a daughter who he treated as his own. He and his wife had their son Justin Algarin. After the marriage ended Ed dedicated his time to his son. They lived together in a trailer home until another came along. For the next portion of his life he worked hard as a dedicated corrections officer whilst building a home for his son and the new foundation in his life, his girlfriend and her daughter Elena. He took on Elena as his own and they became blood. In the last couple years of his life Ed had his house to himself. It was hard at first, but he found new life. He was joyous, he cared for both new and old people in his life, and his beloved animals. He never let anyone worry as he continued to push himself and others to be the best they could be; running marathons, showing his champion dogs, and standing up for those who needed it.

You will live on forever through what you taught us and the comfort that you brought to our lives. Thank you.
