Edna S. Weber, 88, of Ridgefield, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. She was the loving wife of Mr. William “Bill” Weber.

Mrs. Weber was born in Buffalo, NY on July 30, 1933, a daughter of the late Ernest and Edna (Hunt) Schild. She attended Buffalo State Teacher’s College and spent several years teaching in upstate New York before meeting Bill on a ski trip to Lake Placid.

Community involvement and connection with others were very important in her life. As a postal worker, she created close relationships with the people on her route, some of which she maintained long into retirement.

Edna was also a great lover of travel, and used income saved from part-time jobs and her real estate endeavors to enable trips around the United States and the world: China, England, Japan, and central Europe. She shared her experiences with friends and family and enjoyed most the beautiful sights and delightful foods of her destinations.

In a 2017 trip to Europe, she was thrilled to discover a woodworker’s storefront with the name of “Schild” in her father’s hometown of Brienz, Switzerland. Connecting with her roots through travel and food was important to her, and she spoke often of her father’s brief occupation as a confectioner and the joy of pinching pieces of the enormous blocks of chocolate out of which he made his products.

In every aspect of her life, Edna fostered positive and lasting friendships with those she met. She opened her home to bring friends and family together for birthdays and holidays and kept in touch with long distance acquaintances through birthday and holiday cards as well as postcards from her travels. She will be remembered fondly for her warm and neighborly presence, her sense of adventure, and her love of the sweet and simple things in life.

Edna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill, and their daughter Laura Reed and her husband, Howard, and their son Marc Weber and his wife, Susan, as well as her grandchildren, Tyler and Reed, and her brother John Schild and his wife, Mary.

In addition to her parents, aunt, and uncles, she was predeceased by a son, Karl Weber.
