Edna Monie Donnes, a lifelong resident of New Orleans, educator, historian and genealogist passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. A retired teacher, Mrs. Donnes enjoyed educating young people and continued to substitute teach until recently. As an avid genealogist, she documented her family’s heritage back to 14th century England. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Louisiana Colonials the UDC and was a volunteer at The Father Seelos Center. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband John B. Donnes II, her sons John B Donnes III, Stephen Donnes, Alan Donnes and Richard Donnes as well as her grandchildren of whom she was very proud.
