Edna “Eddie Re” Marie Morris, 86, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Odin Healthcare Center. She was born May 4, 1932 in Iuka, daughter of Lewis Edwin Eakin and Leona D. (Widows) Eakin. She married George Valjean Morris on January 31, 1954 and they later divorced.

Eddie Re is survived by six children: Michael Morris of Centralia, Rhonda Morris and friend George White of Centralia, Kevin Morris and wife Della of Federal Way, Washington, Karla Shaw of Centralia, Terri Bradley of Mt. Vernon, and Shawn Morris and wife Susan of Centralia; eight grandchildren: Stacey Jolliff and husband Brock of Centralia, Tiffany Nevings and husband David of Mt. Vernon, Danielle Jackson of Champaign, Samantha Morris of Centralia, Andrea Steeb and husband Brian of Carbondale, Elliott Morris of Federal Way, Washington, Alyssa Morris and Matthew Morris both of Centralia; nine great-grandchildren; a sister: Marilyn Magnus of St. Peter, a niece: Glori Magnus of St. Peter; and a special friend: Marian Suhl of Centralia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George V. Morris, a nephew: Kurt Magnus, and two sons-in-law: Donnie Shaw and Roger Cox. “Eddie Re” was a Salem High School Graduate.

She attended Southern University of Carbondale for a year. She and her husband George owned and operated the Brass Rail Bar for several years. She was a cook for the Brass Rail, various restaurants and bars for 25 plus years. “Eddie Re” was famous for her Hush Puppies and she never shared the recipe with anyone.

She also worked as the assistant for the Wamac City Clerk for several years and retired at the age of 82 but, she still would help her daughter at Centralia Propane until last year. She was of the Lutheran Faith. She enjoyed reading. “Eddie Re” was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s Fan and she enjoyed watching every game.
