Mr. Edmund W. Swanson 77 of Leominster died Tuesday December 1, 2009 in his home after an illness. He was born on August 7, 1932 in Gardner; MA was the son of Philip and Lydia (Mattson) Swanson. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal, and having earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Swanson worked for Borden Chemical Co, and then was the owner operator of Swanson Real Estate which opened in 1985. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Fitchburg and The Friends of Bill W. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Karen (Peltola) Swanson of Leominster, a son Charles Swanson of Klamath Falls,OR three daughters Shelley Mosso of Fitchburg, Marjorie Swanson of Baldwinville, MA and Gloria Bellar of Fitchburg, a step-son Sean Snowden of Leominster, four brothers Harold Alm of Connecticut, Phillip Swanson of Townsend, MA George Swanson of Florida, and James Swanson of Maine, four sisters Ingrid Myllykangas of Westminster, MA, Arlene White, Elizabeth Knowlton, and Christine Lorion all of Templeton, MA, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
