Dave Wasilewski, 77, of Ottawa, died Wednesday morning, September 27, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Dave was born on December 22, 1939, in LaSalle to Edmund and Bernice (Pivonski) Wasilewski.
He was a graduate of St. Bede Academy and St. Bede Junior College. He was employed as the Personnel Manager at the Illinois Department of Transportation in Ottawa for 33 years until his retirement. He married Norma Kaiser on October 1, 1960, at St. Patrick Church in LaSalle. He was a member of St. Columba Church, LaSalle County Cruisers, and the National Plymouth Association. He and Norma were car enthusiasts, attending car shows for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and a life-long Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; 5 sons, Mike (Linda) of Ottawa, Al (Gina) of Clinton, TN, Gary (Tracy) of Springfield, Brian (Kelly) of Ottawa, and Curtis, of Streator; 9 grandchildren: Chris, Ryan, Andrew, Jeremy, Jackie, Tiffany, Brandon, Evan, and Jason, one great-granddaughter, Wylie; one sister, Barb Charbonneau, of Granville, and one brother, Phil (Sherry) of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Tessa in infancy.
