Edith Teresa Schaible, 82, of Freeport, died peacefully Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at her home, after a courageous battle with emphysema and lung cancer.
Born June 22, 1921 in Boston, Mass. she was the daughter of Palmerino and Teresa (Dismond) Mazzucco. She married Rupert Lilies on August 27, 1939 in Boston, and he died on December 25, 1965. She then married Leland C. Schaible on June 10, 1967 in Galena. Her memberships include St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Guild, Eastern Star (Past Worthy Matron), VFW ladies Auxiliary, Freeport Commandry Auxiliary, and White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Edith is survived by her husband Leland C. Schaible of Freeport, 2 sons Ronald Lilies, of San Jose, CA; Richard Lilies, of Freeport; 2 step sons Leland C. Schaible Jr. of Plant City, FL; Dr. Keith L. (Dr. Anne) Schaible of Chicago; 1 daughter, Karen (Ed) Boone of Savanna; 2 step daughters Dr. Rose Stocker of Freeport, Theresa M. Schadewalt Taasevigen Goseyum Schaible of San Diego, CA; 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Her parents; husband Rupert; and 2 brothers preceded her in death.
