Edith “Marie” Smith Stohler, 88, Anderson, died September 30, 2011 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson, after an extended illness.
She was born September 11, 1923 in rural Alexandria, and was a lifelong resident of the Markleville area. A 1943 graduate of Markleville High School, she was a homemaker and member of Markleville North Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Dee Ann Williams Howard of Anderson, Debra Thommen Bill of Carmel and Denise Stohler of Stockton, CA; grandchildren, Grant D. Williams Tori of Pittsboro, IN & Kimberly S. Beach of Anderson; five great grandchildren, Alexa, Michael & Noah Williams and Grayden & Kate Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 1/2 years, Marvin Q. Stohler, on January 4, 2000; parents, Clifford & Crystal Ellen Curts Smith; brother, Clifford Smith, Jr.; sister, Alice Virginia Chapman and a son-in-law, John G. Craig.
