On December 15, 2012 Edith Geoline Volzke passed away in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 13 days. Edith was born on July 2, 1918 to Fred and Wilhelmina (Mailand) Ritterbush in Staplehurst, Nebraska. Edith attended Seward High School in Seward, Nebraska and graduated in 1936. On December 30, 1937, Edith married Harold Volzke at Zion Lutheran Church, Marysville, NE (rural Staplehurst). Harold and Edith farmed near Utica, NE and after Harold’s retirement in 1985 they moved to Seward. Edith was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Seward Senior Center and she was the last surviving member of the Idle Hour Club in Utica. She was also an avid quilter.
