Edith (Joy) Brown, 87, of Peru, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mrs. Brown was born on November 24, 1930 in Hollywood, Maryland to John Cookman and Mattie Helen (Gatton) Joy. She married Kenneth George Brown on June 12, 1949 in Hollywood, Maryland. She worked at Heritage Manor in Peru for 33 years.
She attended the First Baptist Church in LaSalle. Edith enjoyed shopping, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Lori) Brown of LaSalle; 8 grandchildren, Todd Brown, Tammy Brown, Dawn (Eddie) Cashion, Kyle (Amanda) Brown, Jacob Brown, Lyndsi (Patrick) Finn, Kevin (Rebekah) Brown and Sarah Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beulah May “Nenie” Joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Kenneth Wayne Brown; and one sister, Sally Johnson.
