Hichens, Edgar Roy
Edgar Roy Hichens, 89, of Scottsdale, went to be with God on August 20, 2016. A son, brother, beloved husband of 60 years to Mary Louise Hichens, father of four, grandfather of nine, and great-grandfather of seven. Born in 1926 and growing up in New Jersey, “Roy” enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of seventeen, and bravely served his country during World War II, seeing action in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He was also a part of the post-war occupancy of Japan. Roy was honorably discharged in 1946. After the war, a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from New York University and a MBA from Denver University followed. He became an accomplished meteorologist, but after a career change, he dedicated over 35 years of his life in upper management at Sears, Roebuck and Co.
