Eddie York Rich Jr. 81 of 409 Isaac Weeks Road died Sunday, March 17, 2019, at his home.

Eddie received his education in Clinton school system, but his proudest moment was when he received his GED Diploma later in life. Eddie met and married the love of his life the late Mary Lamb Rich, and from that union, they were blessed with six daughters and two sons. Eddie had three children that preceded him in death, two daughters, Shelia Ann Rich, Benita Rich, and one son, Eddie Vernon Rich.

Eddie served in the United States Army Korean War from 1956-1958.  After his return from the military, he worked at Sampson Memorial Hospital.  Eddie left North Carolina and moved to Washington, DC, where he worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, until his retirement.  Later, he returned back to Clinton, NC, and found love again with Dorothy Jacobs. Eddie was preceded in death by two daughters, Shelia Ann Rich, Benita Rich, and one son, Eddie Vernon Rich.  six sisters, Lessie Morrisey, Hettie Matthews, Nettie Rogers, Annette Warren, Emma Lee Herring, and Linda Lyons.

He leaves to cherish his memories, Dorothy Jacobs of the home, four daughters, Vivian Rich-Utley, Fayetteville, NC, Priscilla Ebanks, Clinton, NC, Amanda Farmer (Deon), Hope Mills, NC, Wonita Smith, Fayetteville, NC, and one son, Wendell Rich, Clinton, NC, two step-daughters, Frances Jacobs, Durham, NC, Joann Henry, Brentwood, NY, and one step-son, James Jacobs of Williamsburg, VA.  One sister, Annie Catherine Howell of Houston, TX.  Eddie had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
