Eddie J. Byron, 74, of Big Woods Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home.

Born July 1, 1943, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of the late Nelson and Ruby Hardin Byron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William Byron, Harold Byron and Nelson Byron, Jr., and three sisters, Katherine Bowman, Thelma Norris, and Odell Tolley.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Kay Ison Byron, whom he married October 31, 1964; two sons, Jim Byron and his wife Cathy of Morehead and Chad Ison of Ashland; one brother, Arnold Byron of Parma, Ohio; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He also leaves behind his beloved Yorkie, Gus.

After high school, Eddie served four years in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he returned to Mansfield and was employed at Borg Warner Company until he moved to Rowan County in 1964 to work with his father as a carpenter on First Street. After many years with his father, he became self-employed and remodeled numerous homes and businesses in the Morehead area. Recently, he had been employed as a maintenance person for many apartment buildings in Morehead.

Eddie was an avid football fan. Since he and Kay married, they watched the Super Bowl every year – a total of 53! He also enjoyed working on his computer and watching old movies, especially in black and white. Eddie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
