Earlie Presley Blanks, Jr., 76, of Blue Ridge Manor, 400 Blue Ridge Street, Martinsville, VA and formerly of Devonshire Drive, Ridgeway, VA died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Blue Ridge Manor. He was born on September 17, 1934 in Halifax, VA to the late Earlie Presley Blanks, Sr. and Georgia Wilburn Blanks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Kidd Blanks. He attended Virginia Military Institute, graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Lynchburg College and served in the U. S. Army from 1954-1957. Mr. Blanks was an active member and former deacon at First Baptist Church of Martinsville, VA. He had volunteered for the United Way, served on the Board of Directors for the Ridgeway Volunteer Rescue Squad and enjoyed fishing, hiking and reading. Mr. Blanks worked for Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County for 28 years, from 1972-2000. At the time of his retirement, he was Director of Material Management. Surviving are his daughter, Jacqueline Beth Blanks and her husband, Christopher West of Cary, NC; sons, Eric Thomas Blanks of Clayton, NC and Earl Carlton Blanks and his wife, Mary Blanks of Apex, NC; sister, Hilda Redline and her husband, Paul Redline of Venice, FL; granddaughter, Emerson Blanks of Apex, NC; grandson, Jackson West of Cary, NC. Mr. Blanks fiancée was Willie Draper of Martinsville, VA.
