KNOXVILLE – Earl L. “Casey” Stevens, 89, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, passed away peacefully the evening of Dec. 28, 2013.

Born Nov. 1, 1924, in Galesburg, the son of Edgar T. and Nellie (Butterfield) Stevens, Casey married Mary M. Cirimotich on Oct. 1, 1949, in Galesburg.

Casey’s final journey reunites him with his parents, six brothers, wife and many friends. Surviving are his sons, Gary (and Gwen) Stevens of East Galesburg and Chris (and Mary) Stevens of Bradford; grandson, Ryan (and Arin) Stevens, and three great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Madeline and Mila Stevens, all of San Francisco, Calif., and grandson, Brendan (and Sarah) Stevens, Chicago.

After graduating from Galesburg High School in 1942, Casey served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked 28 years at Galesburg Malleable Co. where he learned to be a master pattern maker, rising to sales manager. He helped found Aluminum Castings Corporation in Galesburg. Casey later worked for the City of Galesburg Parks Department, from which he retired in 1990.

Casey enjoyed an active life and spent countless hours playing golf, fishing and hunting. An excellent artist Casey produced several pencil drawings of local homes and other subjects. Casey followed his father and older brothers as a life member of Alpha Masonic Lodge 155 and earned entrance into Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, Sword of Bunker Hill, and the Mohammed Temple in Peoria. Casey also spent countless hours at Elks Lodge 894.
