Elma Roudine Rogers was born July 7, 1933 in Wade, NC. She was the oldest of nine children of the late Stacy & Ella Mae Herring.
Elma accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, Wade, NC. Attended public schools in North Carolina. Later relocated to Port Chester, NY until her husband, the late Ollie Rogers, Sr., return from the armed force service, they then relocated to Cleveland, OH where she remain until her illness. In 2000 she was then brought back to New York to be near her family.
Before her illness, Elma was doing private duty nursing. She was always pleasant and smiling. She never complain.
Elma leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Delbra Ann Rogers of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren, Alea, Ollie Brent, III, Jamal, Eric, & Tyrone of Cleveland, OH; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Cromartie of White Plains, NY, Mary LeFever (William) of New Fairfield, CT, Margaret Ann Geddie (Lee) of Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Kaley Herring (Dora) of Port Chester, NY, James Herring (Polly) of Danbury, CT, Kevin Herring of Fayetteville, NC; sister-in-law Margaret Herring of Greenwich, CT; brother-in-law John Armstrong of White Plains, NY; host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend Trudy Thomas of Port Chester, NY.
Elma was preceded in death by husband, Ollie Rogers, Sr., son Ollie Rogers, Jr., sisters Laura Henson & Janice Armstrong, and brother Stacy Herring, Jr.
