E. Joann (Bailey) Kenaga, age 96 of Midland died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the King’s Daughters Home.

The daughter of the late Sheldon R. and Elizabeth (McClemons) Bailey was born September 20, 1919 in Gaylord. Joann received a teaching certification from Central Michigan University. She was married to Eugene Kenaga from October 12, 1940 until 1979. On March 5, 1983 she married Duane L. Kenaga.

Joann was involved in many civic and social organizations throughout her life including PTA, the 20th Century Club, Midland Nature Club, Chippewa Nature Center, Michigan Audubon Society, Little Garden Club, A.A.R.P., Bridge Club, served as a Girl Scout Leader, was a member of King’s Daughters, First United Methodist Church, Bible Study and United Methodist Women. She was a volunteer driver for social services, taught Sunday School, was a trail guide for Chippewa Nature Center and delivered meals for the hospital and Happy Diners. Joann enjoyed world traveling, quilting and hiking.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Duane; sons Dennis Kenaga of Lansing, David (Marilyn) Kenaga of McKinney, TX; daughter Marcia Davis of Louisville, KY; step son Lawrence (Carol) Kenaga of Kalamazoo; step daughters Diane (Tom) Brighton of Hastings, Linda (Douglas) Hubbard of Traverse City; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and sister in law Marian Ritter.
In addition to her parents, Joann was predeceased by her step son Charles Kenaga; brother J. Blair Bailey; and sister Barbara Hale.
