Obituary of E. Brady Denton
DENTON, E. Brady of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Cartwright Center. He was 67 years old.
Edward Brady Denton was born on April 25, 1945 in Fort Lewis, Washington to Edward Brady, Sr. and Dorothy Sharpe Denton. He married Tracy Ann Gridley in June 1996; she survives him.
He graduated from Arthur Hill High School and received his AA from Delta College, his BBA from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit. He was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Saginaw County in 1972 and nominated to the US House of Representatives in 1976. He practiced law for 40 years, since 1972.
He was a member or former member of the Saginaw Club, the Detroit Club, and the Saginaw Country Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Saginaw Art Museum, the St. Stephen Parish Council and the Point Lookout Board of Directors. He was a member of the National Association of Criminal Lawyers, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the National District Attorney’s Association. He sang with the Saginaw Choral Society and served in the United States Army. He maintained homes in Saginaw, Point Lookout and Naples, FL. He taught at Delta College and was a member of the Michigan Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association.
Brady was an avid reader, loved cars, and had a passion for the arts.
Surviving are his mother, Dorothy; wife of 16 years, Tracy; his children, Schuyler (Dan) Westcott of Kalamazoo, E. Brady (Jacqueline) Denton, III of Naples, FL; step-children, Michael Crofton and Carol Crofton, both of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Lelia Grace Denton of Naples, FL and Peyton Westcott, Drew Westcott and Lucas Westcott, all of Kalamazoo; two brothers, John Leet (Jean) Denton and Robert Phillip (Brigid) Denton; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Brady Denton, Sr. and step-father, Honorable Fred Borchard, Sr.
