Dr. Nicholas E. Fedesna, Jr., died Saturday afternoon March 15, 2014. Nicholas was born February 13, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois a son of Nicholas and Alice Heaton Fedesna. Dr. Fedesna had been a resident of the Kalamazoo area where he owned and operated Abies Chiropractic Clinic for 35 years. Dr. Nick was an active volunteer with the Kalamazoo VFW Post #827 and participated in many clubs and organizations over the years including the Michigan Association of Chiropractors, Knights of Columbus, Moose, Edison Neighborhood Association and AMBUCS-American Business Clubs. Dr. Nick grew up in Chicago and Ohio and served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1971.
He attended Notre Dame University and earned advanced degrees from Western Michigan University and Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. He and his wife, Bambi L. Zerbel Fedesna, were the proprietors of Nick’s Tavern and Grille on Burdick from 2001 until 2006. During that time Dr. Nick was involved in politics and ran for State Representative under the Republican ticket. Nick is survived by his wife, Bambi; 2 children, Elizabeth Fedesna of Antigua and Nicholas Fedesna of Chicago; his parents, Nicholas and Alice Fedesna of Austin, TX; 2 brothers and their spouses, Thomas and Gaye Fedesna and David and Jorje Fedesna, all of Austin, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to family, Dr. Nick leaves behind a legacy of memories and stories that can be shared by his patients, friends, former students and employees.
