Dr. Mark G. Tagett, age 55, passed away suddenly December 12, 2013 at his residence in Portage, MI. Mark was born September 5, 1958 in Rochester, New York, the son of John and Barbara Mallett Tagett. He received his Bachelor Degree from DePauw University, his Doctor of Medicine from the Wayne State University Medical School, and his PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology from Michigan State University. Mark served his true passion of working as a general and vascular surgeon for many years, currently practicing with Bronson Healthcare Midwest and serving as Chief of Surgery at Bronson Methodist Hospital.

He was a member of the American Board of Surgery for General Surgery and Vascular Surgery and was a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Mark also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the MSU and WMU Medical Schools. Mark was devoted to his family and his profession. When not in surgery, Mark was always seen in attendance at his children’s many athletic and extracurricular events. On November 30, 1985, he was united in marriage to Janet F. Garrity Tagett, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Christina Tagett, Jennifer Tagett, John Tagett and Steven Tagett all of Portage, MI; his father, John Tagett Lucy Bryant of Plainwell, MI; his siblings, Becky Tagett of Detroit, MI, Matthew Mary Tagett of Eugene, OR and Michael Jenny Tagett of Nunica, MI; his nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Tagett.
