O’GARA – Dr. Kevin O’Gara, 56, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Dr. T. Chandler Barber for almost 26 years. Born April 30, 1965 in Staten Island; the son of the late Vincent and Nichalina (Imbrogno) O’Gara. Kevin was a Physician employed at many local hospitals over the years such as Charlotte Hungerford, Winsted Health Center, Sharon and Waterbury Hospitals and most recently, American Family Care in Torrington. He was beloved by his patients and peers and had innumerable friends in his field. Kevin enjoyed hiking, kayaking, canoeing and being in the outdoors. He especially loved nature photography. Kevin and Chandler traveled throughout the U.S. and Panama, where he had the opportunity to photograph unique destinations. In addition to enjoying nature photography he had a strong interest in the study of Herpetology since his days at NYU. Over the years, he kept in touch with many of his college friends. They continued to take field trips to South Carolina as they had during their years at NYU. This close group of friends were known as, “The Field Buddies.” Kevin loved all types of music and especially loved spending time with family and friends. He had a profound impact on the people he met, making their lives brighter with his positive outlook, sound advice and sense of humor. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church in New Hartford. He is already deeply missed. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves his two sisters, Patti Morris and husband Bobby of NY and Catherine McGregor and husband Scott of Delaware; nieces and nephews, Maryah Walker of Winsted, Marc Marciano of Winsted, James McGregor and Justin McGregor, both of Delaware; and his two cherished canine companions, Draco and Sophie.
