Dr. Jerome Philip Jermain, Jr., D. D. S. of Milford and Bonita Springs, FL. passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long illness on December 27, 2012.  Dr. Jermain is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Catherine Keane Jermain.  He is also survived by his five children, Denise Jermain Goodfellow (Peter) of Milford,  Thomas E. Jermain of Los Angeles, CA., Constance E. Jermain of Milford, Robert K. Jermain (Patricia) of Greenwich and Jerome Philip Jermain, III (Megan) of Hamden.  He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Adam, Courtney (John), Madeleine, Jennifer, Julia, Nicholas, Lilly, Nolan and Connor.  In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Patricia Jermain Robinson of Scottsdale, AZ and Claire Jermain  Philbin of New Haven, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Daniel S. Davis, his two sisters, Mary Jermain Sepowski of Chester and Rita Jermain Noyes of Milford and godson and nephew, JB Philbin.

Dr. Jermain was the son of the late Jerome P. and Julia Murphy Jermain of West Haven.  He was born on December 7, 1928.  He graduated from West Haven High School, where he was a member of the Varsity football, swimming and baseball teams.  He was also active in Boy Scouts.  He then went on to serve in the United States Army and was deployed to Korea, serving in the Army Medical Corps for which he received several medals for good conduct and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he graduated from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT.   Dr. Jermain received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland.

Dr. Jermain returned to Connecticut where he practiced dentistry for 41 years in West Haven. An active member of his community throughout his lifetime, he was a member of the New Haven Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the Wilsonian Club of New Haven.  He was also a past member of the Yale University Golf Club, Race Brook Country Club, the Milford Yacht Club, Bonita Bay Club and was a past president of the Morningside Association where he lived since 1957.  He was also a member of St.

Jerry was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed tournament play.  He was a daily walker and enjoyed swimming and skiing.   He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football.  He was a constant advocate of pursuing higher education which he believed was a pathway to success.
