Dr. James E. Moneyhun, 79, Anderson, passed away December 12, 2011, at his residence. He was born December 22, 1931, in Anderson, Indiana and was a lifelong Anderson resident. Jim was a 1950 graduate of Anderson High School, 1955 graduate of Purdue University and a 1958 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Moneyhun retired in 2009 from St. John’s Health System as a physician after 51 years of service.

At St. John’s, he served as the President of Staff from 1982-1983. He served his residency at Springfield City Hospital, Springsfield, Ohio in 1958-1959. He was a Charter Fellow of the American Acadamy of Family Physicians and in 2010 received the First Doctor Emertus of St. John’s Health System.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Anderson where he previously served as an Elder and Deacon, and was a member of the Chancel Bell Choir. His love for music began as a young child. During his career at Purdue, he was concert master with the Purdue Symphonic Band for two years.

He has continued his love of music with the Anderson University Community Concert Band, Lapel Community Band, Clarinet Playing Friends, and formerly the Indianapolis Municipal Band. He loved playing golf when he shot two holes in one. He also loved watching all sports involving Purdue University and Indiana University.

He is survived by his wife whom he married January 23, 1953, Marilyn Joann Scherrer Moneyhun; daughters, Nancy A. Moneyhun of Anderson, Linda M. & husband Jeff Rattler of Anderson and Jane M. & husband Rob Loose of Anderson; brother-in-law, Charles E. & wife Betty J. Scherrer of Belleville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Mark A. Loose of Muncie and Sarah E. Davis of Anderson; nephew, John E. Scherrer and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude R. Moneyhun in 1983 and Pearl G. Carpenter Moneyhun in 1996.
