Henry Edward Busche, 94, a former Jacksonville resident currently living in Flower Mound, Texas, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at St. Lukeâ??s South Shore Hospital in Caledonia, Wis.

He was born June 3, 1913, on the family farm in Monroe, Ind., the son of Frederick and Sarah Boothe Busche. He married Dorothy Davis on June 2, 1938, at the home of her parents in Hardinsburg, Ind., and she preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 2003.

He is survived by one son and one daughter, Frederick (wife, Diane) Busche of Highland Village, Texas, and Patricia Ann (husband, David) McNamara of Genesee, Wis.; five grandchildren, Justin (wife, Kris) Busche of Bolingbrook, Ill., Amber Busche of Dallas, Texas, Bronwyn â??Winnieâ? (husband, Luke) Zuchowski of Wales, Wis., Kathryn (husband, Chad) Winter of North Prairie, Wis., and Michael McNamara of Denver, Co.; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lena Busche.

Dr. Busche attended Huntington College and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Indiana Central College. He received his Master of Music Education from the University of Michigan and his Doctor of Education from the University of Illinois. He started his career by teaching music at Milford High School and Nappanee High School in Indiana. He was a Professor of Music Education and Conductor of Choirs and Bands at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, for 33 years. During that time he and a colleague founded the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, which he conducted until 1968. He was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a longtime Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church. Henry and Dorothy retired to Rotonda West, Florida, in 1978. While in Florida he conducted the North Port Band and was Director of the Trinity Presbyterian Church Choir in Venice. In 1992 he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Indiana Central College. He was a member of the Sarasota Concert Band, Gloria Musicae, and the North Port Concert Orchestra, receiving a Lifetime Award in 1995. In 2006 he moved to Flower Mound, Texas.
