Dr. Erwin Randolph Parson, 62 of Aberdeen, MD, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 in the Lebanon V.A. Med., Lebanon, PA. Born in La Ceiba, HONDURAS, on June 5, 1943, he was the son of Fenny Thomas and Myrtle Irene Thompson Parson. Mr. Parson married Jane Parson December 15, 1972 at West Springfield, MA. Drafted at age 18 into U.S.Army, he served as a medic in Vietnam from 05/14/1965 to 03/10/1967. Subsequently, he dedicated his career to empowering and advocating for veterans nationwide. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Master and Doctoral degrees from Aldelphi University, Long Island, New York. A specialist in the area of Psychological Trauma, Dr. Parson’s career was multifaceted. He served as a counsellor, trainer, consultant, researcher, and visiting professor. He received numerous honors and awards, and had considerable publications. His last position was as a Behavioral/Clinical psychologist at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Perry Point, MD April 1991-March 2006, and he served the Veterans Administration Vet Center in Elkton, MD. Dr. Parson was a member of Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church.Survived by his wife: Jane Parson, one daughter: Marlena Parson of Aberdeen, MD and one son: Erwin R. Parson, II of Aberdeen, MD, Son of Myrtle Irene Thompson Parson, South Attlebord, MA, One brother: Earl Parson of Manchester, NH, Brother of four sisters: Lethiel Parson of Clinton, MA, Eleanor Lopez of New Port Richie, FL, Meleen Cort of Laurel, MD, Earline Llewellyn of South Attlebord, MA, Aunt, Florence Jones of Queens, NY
Predeceased by his late father, Fenny Thomas Parson, late brother, Harold Parson.
