Douglas Wesley Morris, 78, slipped into his heavenly sleep on Saturday, June 22, 2013 surrounded by family in attendance and others in spirit.

He was born April 29th, 1935, in the Texas Panhandle city of Westbrook, Mitchell County to Wilford Maehue Morris and Ellen Mae Robertson Morris.

Doug was a Korean War veteran, after being honorably discharged October 21, 1957 from the United States Marines Corps he transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves. During active duty he received the following medals; National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal and 2 Good Conduct Medals. He worked as a mechanic and tow truck driver for most of his life at Morris Motors and Tyrrell Chevrolet. Loving to drive, during his semiretirement years, he would receive and deliver cars. It gave him the opportunity to travel across the US and experience what the different states had to offer.

Doug was a hard working man, but loved doing things with his family. He was a big Dallas Cowboys fan, avid reader of westerns, fisherman, boater, and a lover of classic country music. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Diamondbacks.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Doug is survived by his wife Nadine, his children Loretta McKernan, David Morris (Donna), Richard Morris (Carmen), Phil Morris (Veronica), Kelly Morris (Donna), 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, brother Norman (Carol), and sister Sharon.

Doug is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Emily “Molly” Martinez, and sister, Joyce.
