Douglas Alan Trevethan, 59, passed away April 28, 2019 at his home. He was born June 14, 1959 in Santa Cruz, CA to Richard and Judith Miller Trevethan.
He graduated in 1977 from Loma Prieta High School in Santa Cruz, CA. He married Sally Quintal in 1983, and together they had a daughter, Amy, in 1988. Doug and Sally later divorced but remained good friends.
Doug worked in warehouses in various positions before becoming disabled due to diabetes complications. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Doug was passionate about sci fi movies and always had a good movie recommendation to share. He loved bird watching. Hummingbirds became so familiar with him that they’d rest on his hands to eat. He also enjoyed stargazing. Doug loved electronics and new gadgets. He loved Santa Cruz, CA more than any other place. Grandchildren, nieces, and nephews remember him as a kind person who enjoyed playful teasing, jokes, and always had candy and mints to share.
Doug was a great support to friends. You always knew you could count on him if you needed a place to talk or advice. He had a wonderful, big heart.
The family would like to thank the numerous close friends of Doug’s who cared so much about him.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Amy Blunck, 2 grandchildren, Murphy Blunck and Analissa Hunt. His sisters, Kim Beede, Laura Flathers, Colette Lawrence; brothers, Scott Kendall and Ben Bettenhausen; aunts Sharon Bowman and Nancy Biondi, uncle Dean Trevethan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and uncle Dan Miller.
