Doug Rapp, 65, of Terril, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. Doug was born on April 25, 1956, to John and Barbara (Sigler) Rapp in Floyd, IA. He graduated from Estherville High School and earned his RN Degree and Associates of Arts Degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. Doug worked in the Healthcare Industry as a RN for 40 plus years. He was united in marriage to Claudia Bergeson on January 8, 1977, in the Terril Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed singing in his beautiful baritone voice, working on crafts, & wood working. He was an avid reader. He also loved to watch all of God’s critters when they came to our yard to munch on all the food, he put out for them. Especially the hummingbirds and Blue Jays. He had a special affinity for our furry, feathered, and finned friends. He loved putting out the outdoor lights for Christmas and took special pleasure in making it a joyful thing to see on a dark December night. He always had a dog in his lap as we watched TV in the evening. He loved to garden. We started our own tomatoes and peppers from seed we saved in February or March, and he loved watching the green sprouts come up. He couldn’t believe what God did with that little brown seed. He loved baking – helped kneading anything but especially hazelnut biscotti. He is survived by his wife Claudia (Bergeson) Rapp of Terril; sister Kim (Dennie) Storey of Ruthven; and his brother John (Jackie) Rapp of Estherville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dee.
