Dorothy (Young) Bates, 85, of Mendon and formerly of Upton, died Thursday morning, September 26, 2013, in Beaumont Nursing Center in Westborough after a long period of declining health. She was the widow of Daniel F. Bates, who died in 2003.
Dot was born in Milford, a daughter of the late Charles and Hannah (Lawson) Young. She worked in the West Upton hat industry and at the former Draper Corp. in Hopedale, and then as a school bus driver for P & T Bus Company for many years.
She leaves one son, Daniel C. Bates and his wife Ann Marie of Upton; a daughter, Donna M. MacNaughton and her husband Mark of Mendon; 4 grandchildren, Mark G. MacNaughton of Uxbridge, Daniel W.
