Dorothy Vandenburgh Fulkerson , 94

Longmeadow, MA Dorothy Vandenburgh Fulkerson , age 94, died Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Jewish Nursing Home of Western MA in Longmeadow.

Born in Mechanicville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Vandenburgh and Lillie (Rogers) Vandenburgh and wife of the late William H. Fulkerson.

She was raised in Mechanicville, resided in Troy while raising a family, and moved to Jerseyville, IL after her retirement. She was educated at Mechanicville High School, and, in 1934, graduated from the Mildred Elley School in Albany.

Dorothy also attended the library school at the Springfield, MA Library after which she served as assistant librarian in Rutland, VT. Later, Mrs. Fulkerson was an assistant librarian at Troy High School and, for a number of years, at Hudson Valley Community College.

She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Troy. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Children of the American Revolution, holding numerous local and statewide positions. She also spent many years as a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed sharing her collection with others.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy F. Hatfield (Stephen C.) of Granby, CT; her sister, Marion Robbins of Longmeadow, MA; her brother, Donald Vandenburgh (Bev) of Amherst, NH; two grandchildren, Sara H. Beaudin (Jason) of Avon, CT and Sean Hatfield of Lyndhurst, NJ; and three great grandchildren, Jacob, Tucker and Toby Beaudin. She was predeceased by her son, First Lt. Roger A. Fulkerson.
