Dorothy Victoria Steffen, 96, of C.R. 4, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2008) in Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart. She was born on Feb. 6, 1912, in Chicago to George and Mary (Bezan) Starcevich. In 1970 she married Elmer Steffen in Kalamazoo, Mich. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Steffen is survived by five sisters, Sister Ann Starcevich of Adrian, Mich., Georgianna Caputo of Toledo, Ohio, and Cathern Malone, Antoinette Swenson and Rosealine Starcevich, all of Chicago; and her friends and caregivers, Allen and Beryl Nord.
Before her marriage, Mrs. Steffen worked at Commonwealth Edison Phone Co. and the Skamper Corp., Bristol. She was a homemaker, enjoyed making friends and playing cards, and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
