Dorothy (Sox) Baer, age 92, of Salem, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown, Ohio. She was born April 23, 1924 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Matuscak) Sox Sr.
She worked at First Federal Savings & Loan as a Loan Officer for 23 years and previously at Packard Electric for 15 years while attending night school at Warren Business College. She moved to Warren in 1943 from the Salem area, then from Warren to Ocala, Florida in 1980, then back to Salem in 2001. Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Greenford High School (South Range) and was a member of the former Ocala Women’s Golf Association and the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painting for 20 years. Dorothy lived on a farm until she graduated high school. Her husband, Charles (who was a builder) built their home, which she was very proud of.
Her husband, Charles L. Baer, whom she married June 7, 1970, preceded her in death April 4, 1999. Also five sisters, Mary Bricker, Elizabeth Lippiatt, Pauline White, Helen Gideon and Ruth Suliot; and two brothers, Joseph Sox and Edward Sox preceded in death.
Survivors include a sister, Vera Cain of Salem; one brother, John Sox of Salem and many nieces and nephews.
