Dorothy Nina (Savastano) Carideo, 93, of Ridgefield, Connecticut passed away peacefully on September 25, 2021 at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center where she has resided since 2019.

She was the loving wife of Angelo Robert Carideo who predeceased her in September of 2019.

Dorothy was born in Mount Vernon, New York on May 25, 1928; the eldest child born of the late James and Margaret (Farina) Savastano and predeceased by her brother James Savastano.

She graduated from A.B. Davis High School and married her high school sweetheart Angelo on February 17, 1952, and shortly thereafter started her family in Mt. Vernon, New York. The family lived in Scarsdale, New York from 1968 until 1978, and then moved to Rye, New York until 2000. The family then moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut, the place that became home for more than 20 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Dorothy was an avid reader and signed up for book clubs at any chance she could. She loved the library in Ridgefield. She loved shopping, hats, scarves, and jewelry, but especially hats.

She loved St.

Dorothy’s husband, Angelo, was a Notre Dame University graduate and she loved watching the football games and cherished the friends they made over their lifetime. She was also a Yankees fan and enjoyed her trips to see a game with her sons.

As a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she was at her best. She was smart, beautiful, and kind.

A generous spirit and faith live on in all of her children. She was truly beautiful, and we all loved her every day she was here. The family would like to thank the excellent staff at Laurel Ridge and Athena hospice.
