Dorothy Mae Williams Harruff, 83, Anderson, died December 29, 2003 at Community Northview, Anderson following an extended illness. She was born August 26, 1920 in Tippecanoe County, and resided in Anderson. She worked at Henry County Hospital, at Jewish Hospital, Bronx, New York, and at Samuel Merritt Hospital, Oakland, California. She resumed her career in 1967 at Community Hospital, Anderson and retired as head nurse in 1985. Then worked for Life Data and volunteered for Hospice in Anderson. She graduated from Otterbein High School, then earned her RN degree from Home Hospital in Lafayette, Purdue University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anderson, United Methodist Women, active in the Betty Brown – Esta Howard Circle and served in the Stephen’s Ministries for years. A member and past president of Tri Kappa Sorority, Beta Chapter; a member of Antique Study Group, AAUW and the Ladies Kiwanis of Anderson. Survived by her husband of 61 years, married August 16, 1942, Robert B. Harruff; daughters, Mrs. John Robin Brown III – Corona del Mar, California and Marjorie Estivell – Bloomington; son, Dr. Richard Carol Harruff – Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Mrs. Tim Su Hartline, Jocelyn Brown and Max Estivill; great grandchild, Garrett Hartline; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Cleda F. & Effie May McKenzie Williams and brothers, Virgil, Vernon and Charles.
