Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jones Allen was born to the late Ernest Jackson and Julia Rich Jones on February 8, 1932 in Lake City, FL. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Hewitt, Janie and Bill. She was educated in the Columbia County School system in Lake City, FL. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Tennessee. Her career in education began by teaching in Harnett County, moving on to Fayetteville City Schools/Cumberland County Schools. She cherished her days teaching at “Washington Drive Junior High School” and “Hillcrest Middle School.”

She was married to Walter J. Allen, her lifetime companion of fifty loving years. She was the mother of three sons: Winston, Jeffrey, and Howard and one beautiful and loving daughter, Myra. She also reared three grandchildren,Brandy, Brandon and Brittney. She was loved by many and did not know any strangers. Anywhere she went there was always someone saying, “Hey, Ms. Allen!” She was very proud of her children and loved them dearly. Everybody knows, when it came to her children, she would drop everything to be there for them. From school field trips to multiple graduations, she was always there for all of them. She always spoke her mind and made your business her business because she cared.

She is survived by: her husband Walter; her brothers Namon B. Jones and Carl Jackson, three sons; Winston (Rosetta), Jeffrey, Howard (Marcia); a daughter Myra; two granddaughters Brandy (Marcus) and Brittney; two grandsons Jerome (Lisa) and Brandon; great grandchildren DaeVion and DeAsia; a sister/friend Juanita petis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
