Dorothy M. Lantelme, 94, of Southbury, CT, passed away peacefully in the early evening of February 20, 2011, at Danbury Hospital with her daughters at her side. She was the widow of Andrew J. Lantelme.
Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Mary and William Wagener on September 23, 1916. She was a gentle, trusting and loving person who was devoted to Andrew and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to garden, was an expert crossword solver and her passion was reading books. She and Andy would travel by car to every nook and cranny they found that sounded intriguing. She worked for a time as a librarian at Dorr-Oliver Inc., in Stamford, CT, commuting to the office with Andy from Southbury. They were married for 69 years, having known each other since they were children in the same neighborhood.
Dorothy showed her amazing personal strength in her last years, living independently after Andy’s death in 2007 until the last two weeks of her life. She was an amazing woman who had more courage than her family ever realized. The gift of 94 years of life was given to this woman of love, patience and faith in God.
She leaves her two daughters: Carole Rosa and her husband John of Ridgefield, CT, and Andrea Brewster and her husband Thomas of Woodbury CT. Also her grandchildren from Carole and John: John Rosa and his wife Beverly of Danbury, CT, Deborah Rosa of Rockfall, CT, and Jill Lounsbury and her husband William of Danbury. Also, her great grandchildren Joey and Colin Lounsbury of Danbury, CT.
