Dorothy Louise Sigmon, 82, originally of Elon, VA, passed away at home on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Born on November 29, 1941, in Amherst County, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Reid Sigmon and Elsie Watts Sigmon.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; Gene Sigmon, John “Toppy” Sigmon, and sisters; Lois Proffitt and Elsie Higginbotham.
Dorothy most recently resided in Colonial Heights, VA with her nephew; Johnny Proffitt, wife; Carmen, and their daughters; Abby, Ally, and Addy. She is also survived by a sister- in- law; Linda Sigmon (widow of Gene) and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Dorothy was retired from Woodall & Lang Inc., where she worked as office manager for many years. She devoted her life to caring for loved ones including her family, friends, and church family. Dorothy was a member of Elon Baptist Church of Elon, VA where she previously led the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class and was a member of the WMU woman’s ministry.
Dorothy loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and believed in the power of prayer.
For anyone who knew Dorothy, you understand that she was very humble, and she did not like a lot of “fuss”. Dorothy’s wishes were for everyone to reminisce on all the good times and fond memories had through the years. At this time, we will be respecting those wishes.
