Dorothy Lenora Hopkins Payne, age 92, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Manassas, VA surrounded by her family. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Virgil and Catherine Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Hopkins of Nokesville, VA, two sisters Edna Nicholson of Nokesville and Kathleen Austin of Dandridge, TN. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Carolyn “Tootie” Payne and Patti D. Pittman, four grandchildren, Virginia “Ginger” Bennett, Jeanette Carrie Soaper, Tracy L. Stephan, and Melanie D. Ali, ten great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, three nieces, and three nephews. Dorothy was very proud of her family, her Federal Government job at Fort Meade, MD, her beach house, her many flower gardens, and the Washington Nationals. She loved crocheting, playing cards, woodworking, fixing broken clocks, and lamps. Among her many talents were repairing her four lawn mowers, using the chain saw, and teaching her family to do the same.
