Dorothy Jones Poat, 85, of Anderson, passed away on August 15, 2012, at her residence. She was born on April 21, 1927, in Anderson, Indiana where she resided all of her life. Dorothy graduated from Anderson High School and St. Mary of the Woods College. She taught at Union City Schools for 2 years following college. She was a member of the Current Events Club, Victoria Guild and several bridge clubs. She was also an avid sports fan.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Elizabeth Poat, Marjorie Chris Burke, Mary David Rearick and James Poat Jr.; six grandchildren; Jennifer, Lauren, Kristyn and Andrew Burke, Katelyn and Matthew Rearick. Also, surviving is her special friend and caregiver, Michele Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35years, James Poat, mother, Nelle Jones, father, Walter F. Jones, sisters, Barbara Kelly, Janet Tackett and brother, Walter F. Jones, Jr.
